I'm planning an upgrade to 6.x on a number of S8300D processors.

For a number of reasons, it would suit me better to load the SP image to the S8300 froma USB stick rather than a CDROM. Avaya document a process for this and include a script on the ISO for doing this; however I can't get this to work in our test lab. Has anyone got any tips for getting this to work?

The USB stick is bootable - it boots to the menu screen if plugged into a PC
The file system is mountable on the S8300D (i.e. when booted to the 5.2.1 image, the USB stick is recognised and readable)

At the moment, I am working on the principle that the USB stick isn't recognised by the S8300 at a BIOS level (i.e. until the redhat OS gets going) Assuming this is the case, does anyone know what sort of stick is compatible?

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

Avaya. Too little or no help? Expensive?

Documentation does suggest that you can load system platform from a USB drive.
Haven't tried it though.

Yes you can load files from a USB drive. But, server will not boot from a USB drive.

Not what I wanted to hear at all.... But thanks!

But having re-read the documents, it doesn't explicitly say that the S8300 series can be built from USB

Important:
If you are installing from a USB flash drive, remove the flash drive when the installation is complete. The presence of a flash drive connected to the server could prevent that server from rebooting.

SP USB Disk: Files are located in a USB flash drive. (Option not supported for upgrades to System Platform 6.2 and later.)
