i left my computer (gateway) e3400 at the office on over the weekend with lock option on. When I return to the office on Monday the screen was black and I shook the mouse to get the screen back up, but the screen had stayed black. I did a cold boot and windows 2000 professional I'm running started up slow and did not finished and I got a blue screen stating boot device not accessible.

Check floppy isn't in. Could be a failed hard drive.
Is it still happening? Could of been a corrupted file cause by the forced shutdown.
Either that or Eco Warriors came in and beat it with a stick to punish you for helping Global Warming.

If your still getting it. Try to give more details what it says on the blue screen.

thanks for the reponse StuReeves, me and my friend had figured out that the harddrive was dying and that is why the boot file was being corrupt. So my friend had restarted the computer and booted up on knoppix linux 3.3 and retrieve my files from my documents folder and he sent the files to his computer by way of the ftp protocol. Next, he switched out hard drive with a knew one, and then, he used our ghost server to image the computer. Lastly, he placed the files from his computer to the network and when my computer was back up I just grabbed my files back from the network.
