AMD K6-2/550 on an FIC VA-503+ MB.
I built this system for a client a couple years ago. He brought it back to my shop stating it was completely dead.
Whe turning on this computer, the PS runs, the hard drive runs, the front panel lights and the CD light comes on, and that's it, no beeps, nothing at all comes up on the monitor. Upon opening the case I determined that the CPU heat sink fan had failed.
I completely stripped the system down to the MB and CPU, removed the MB from the case (in the event it was shorting out on the case) and tried it again, but still get nothing. So I'm assuming it's the CPU, since the fan had failed, although it doesn't show any signs of overheating.
My question is this: Is there any way to determine whether it's the CPU or the MB (or both)? I don't happen to have a functioning CPU to test with, so I'm wondering if there's any other way to tell?
