I have a PC here with W98 , at the boot sequence that is doing three (3) times the mem test.

I had switch the 2 128MB from bank , test one at a time; always three mem test at boot time.

Everything else is fine ...anyone have a idea ?

That is normal if BIOS is not set for "fast start-up". Go into BIOS (hit delete key during boot) and check "advanced" setup for "quick" or "fast" start up. If this just started, check to see if the BIOS has reverted to "safe" start-up due to battery going bad.

ordisecours;
micker377 is correct (though to enter "your" BIOS, you may need to hit a different key or combo - such as F1, F2, F10, ctrl+alt+del, etc)...3 times is odd though unless the Mem is bad maybe.
Also check Start > Run MSCONFIG "Advanced" Button (anything ticked??)

also in Msconfig > Config.sys
(is DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\HIMEM.SYS /TESTMEM:ON present more than once? )
To copy Config.sys contents to paste here
Start > Run NOTEPAD C:\CONFIG.SYS

Also in Msconfig > System.ini
click the [+] to expand [386Enh]
is anything like this; EMMExclude=C000-CFFF there??

Also Right click My Computer > select Properties > Performance > File System > Troubleshooting - anything ticked ??

thanks micker377 and tektippy4u , I will make a visit on site this week and give you feed back. regards.

hi ordisecours;
just to clarify a bit
- if this statement "EMMExclude=C000-CFFF" is there in System.ini under [386Enh] - it can be quite normal. Multiple statements covering a diff address range other than (c000-cfff) is not normal. The other things I mention (both - anything ticked? sections) are worth noting, as under normal operation, none are usually ticked (except the "Use SCSI double-buffering" box is sometimes 'ticked' and 'grayed' in the Msconfig > Advanced section.).
Try to jot , save, copy, the config.sys and autoexec.bat files.....also Open a DOS Prompt and typein these three and press <enter> after each one;
SET (copy and paste)
PATH (copy and paste)
MEM /c /a /p (copy and paste)
