Boot issues with an attached USB external drive

Hi Guys,

Can someone help - thanks.

PC - AMD / AMIBIOS refuses to boot with a Philips External USB drive attached.

System detects DVD and SATA drive, then says detecting USB device and hangs.

Occassionally, it does actually boot with it attached.

Other thing I noticed, is that in one USB port at the back, the drive is not detected at all.

Any ideas,
