machine keeps rebooting

occasionally getting hard drive errors... so

used multiple hard drives (3)

still reboots

formatted them, installed xp, when it goes to reboot before it starts configuring it goes into a reboot cycle.

still rebooting up a storm, have tried everything i can think of... suggestions welcome
 
Try testing the RAM by using
Try using the drive manufacturers diagnostic utility available from their website.

Make sure the IDE cable is connected correctly and try an alternative if available.

Try a different IDE channel on your Mainboard if available.

Try clearing your CMOS, your Motherboard manual or google should give you instructions.

did a bunch of searching on the net and came up with some info.

the machine is an IBM netvista 2254 and supposedly the motherboard is defective and causes this problem. The capacitors near the processor are problematic. So after checking, I can see yellow crystals on the top of 2 of the capacitors. They extended the warranty to cover MB replacement, so hopefully that'll work.

Unfortunately, they can't find our S/N in their database and we have to start jumping through hoops.

we'll see how it goes, blech
