Book function uses white pages?

I'm making a book out of several sub publications so I can control the page numbering throughout the document.

However, when I print the combined document, there are white pages where a subdocument ends. Obviously, I don't want this, since it breaks the document flow. (and I print on both sides)

Is there a setting I have to change in de subdocuments or the creation in the book so this won't happen anymore?

This might be a bit obvious, but if you are duplex printing these sub-documents, then you have to have an even number of pages in each to NOT get white pages. Each PM doc starts printing on a new page.
