Have read Sams teach yourself Delphi 3 in 21 days. By the way, I received it when I bought Delphi 3 standard.
The term newbies is confusing?
Newbie in programming, or newbie in Delphi?
If you have programming experience, the book is very good. I had a fairly good pascal background and after six years of doing nothing with real programming, (unless you call writing logical formulas in a spreadsheet programming), I didn't need 3 weeks to get my way around in Windows programming with Delphi.
The next step was Marco Cantu. But this one I use like a reference. Just like a dictionary, when you need to do something, but don't know how, just browse through the book to get a solution.
Teach yourself delphi I would classify as a good novell, it has well defined chapters focussed on getting some task done.
