Book cover and SPINE

I need to make a book cover with a spine
the dimesions are 5.5" BY 8.5" with a spine of
.92. Can someone tell me how to create that layout please?

I am assuming perfect bound, from the description. Your page size needs to be as wide as the front plus the back plus the spine. Set crop marks for the outside edge, and non-printing marks (or dotted lines) for your spine width. Don't forget if you have bleed, you need to pull your image out about 1/4", unless the printer gives you other instructions. I hope that was clear.

Be sure to make a dummy to send along!

What kind of spine? I am not sure what you mean by that. I am trying to make a book cover .
Have you spoken to your printer? I only printed it to my regular jet printed so far
Are you having the book finished by the printers? Yes the book will go to a publishing company for the end result...

Hi, Pat,

The common ways of binding are case bound (hardcover), perfect bound (soft cover), with a lay-flat binding, or bound with wire-stitching (saddle stitched), spiral wire, or plastic combs.

What Vida said plus I'd speak with your printer about what the finished product will look like.

Hi john again.
The binding is a perfect bound = I figured it out to the size but now when I try to put a background color I CAN'T GET THE FONTS TO COME IN THE FRONT...Am I doing something wrong...I used to working with powerpoint

Select the text block, then click Element -> Arrange -> Bring to Front.
