Hi,

We can connect to the internet fine, browse, collect e-mails etc.

But whenever or however we attempt to disconnect, we get the Blue screen.

Error is reported on file ndis.sys

We are on the latest XP Service pack.

Anybody any ideas or solutions

Many Thanks

Mike

Hi Mike,
Can you be a bit more specific as to the contents of the error message. I have found a few possible solutions but it depends on what the error is.

Cheers

Hi

Thanks for the quick response. Will have to get my colleague to replicate it and send me the details. So will get back to this later tonight or tomorrow.

Thanks

Mike

Back again!

Ok the info I have is:

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (Please note i have a USB connection other threads on this message seem to focus around NIC card)

I also get a reference to NDIS.sys
Address F83DF0F5 base at F83DD000

It is always when I seelct disconnect on the connect/disconnect screen.

The only solution is to pull out the Modem USB connection.

Any help appreciated.

As per faq779-4192

Stop 0x000000D1 or DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
(0x00000040, 0x00000002, 0x00000000, 0xfc96a9dc)
a) This common error occurs when a driver tries to access an improper memory address.
b) This problem may occur because the OHCI endpoint is unable to find the transfer descriptor in the list.
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows XP. Check for unsigned drivers, recently installed or updated antivirus programs, disk utilities, and backup programs.

Options open to you are a full uninstall of the Broadband Modem - including all software support.

Reinstall following instructions (If this is a BT Broadband modem, they are very fussy), Make sure nothing is running in the background that is not OS essential.

If this does not work then look at doing a In-Place Upgrade (Repair Installation) of Windows XP.
