I have experienced the dreaded blue screen after installing Service Pak 2. The error code is 0X00000050 .... page fault error. The system will not boot in safe mode unless I disable L1 and L2 caching in the bios.

I've tried recovery disk, vga mode, last configuration to no avail.

Can anyone provide me some guidance? .... if I have to reinstall, I'll probably be loading up Linux. I can't tolerate unreliability.

What type of system is it? Have you had your system tested for faults? This type of error can indicate a problem with the cache. James Collins

It's an 800MHz Athlon board with 256Meg RAM ... not sure how much cache is on it.... been running it since January with Win2000.... problem started with Service Pak2 upgrade. How do I test the cache?

I have recently bought a Jetway m/board 663as ultra, using an AMD Duron 750 and 256Mb Ram (PC133), 10Gb Samsung UDMA 66 HDD.

I tried installing a fresh copy of Windows 2000 on it and after it finished the install from the GUI part, I get the bsod with the following error message:

Stop 0x00000050 PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA
Beginning dump of physical memory

It then proceeds to count from 1 to about 60 then re-boots.

Has anyone come across this before?
