Hi there, I have XP home with 128ram
I took the memory out to find out what it was, so I could upgrade it. when I put it back, the blue screen of death and the stop error 0X000000ED (0X81B67E8) 0XC0000032,0X00000000,0X00000000 came up. I've made 6 boot disks but during set up they fail on number 4, showing serial.sys corrupted. Can anyone help. Thanks Guys.

Damaged File System.

If the second parameter (0xbbbbbbbb) of the Stop error is 0xC0000032, then the file system is damaged.

If this is the case, restart the computer to the Recovery Console, and then use the chkdsk /r command to repair the volume.

RAM testers.

Put the RAM back in again.

1. See if there is a BIOS upgrade for your box;

2. Follow linne's advice above and do a stand-alone test of your RAM. It is unusual but certainly not unheard of for new RAM to be faulty -- whether in the selection of RAM modules used, or in the modules themselves.

3. Look carefully at the memory upgrade choices in the manual for your system/motherboard. It may be that the new module needs to be in slot #3 and not #2, or will not work with the original RAM shipped with your system.

Sounds to me like you've disturbed some dirt! Or displaced one of your other cards in removing your RAM. Reseat all cards after giving your machine a spring clean if it looks at all dirty inside.

Take the memory out again and rub the contacts with a soft pencil erasor to remove any oxide. Get a can of 'air' and blast the RAM slots to remove any crud.

Hi Everyone,
you were all a great help, I insalled the recovery console from windows 2000 CD-rom, cause I didn't have the XP CD-rom and the machine booted. Fantastic job, you've all done me a great service, thank you.
