Does anybody know if I can block my users from accessing the tools menu option? One of them (who will not admit it!) managed to corrupt the database yesterday by starting to convert it to something else. I have no idea how they did it but they shouldn't need to access it for any reason so the best thing would be to remove the option altogether.
If anybody has any idea it would be greatly appreciated.

Create a new toolbar. Include what you want to, and EXCLUDE what you don't want the users to have.

Do u know how to do this? If not, let me know and i will try to explain.
Also, do you have the same toolbar throughout your app?

Nick

Thanks for that Nick. I am not quite sure how to do it so if you could give me a few pointers that would be great.
Everybody just has the default menu bar at the moment but I would like to limit some users.

Thanks again,
Tulip

Hi Tulip, what you could do is go to "tools" then "start up" and then uncheck everything to your liking or just uncheck everything. When you start your database back up, no one will be able to edit anything. BUT remember to get back to the start up menu to adjust your changes make sure you hold down on the shift key and press enter! :)

The way I do it is as follows.
goto Tools, customize.
Then useing your mouse, click and drag the ttols menu into your customise dialogue box.
OR,

In your customise dialogue, make sure the Toolbars tab is selected, and click New. Give your new toolbar a name and click OK. Click the Properties button and make sure your new toolbar is a menu bar. There are 3 options in the Type drop down. Toolbar, menubar and pop up. Once menu bar is chosen close the proprties box.
Click the commands tab. Click and drag all the the options you want into your new toolbar. Once done, close this dialogue down. Move your new menu bar to wherever u want to.
Then Goto tools startup, chosse your new menu bar as the default menu bar.
Once this is done. Again, goto tools customise. Uncheck the 'Menu Bar' (under the Toolbars tab). If it doesn't let u, click the properties button and check the allow showing/hiding.

Let me know if it works,

Nick
