OK I know that setting dummy proxy settings can block access.

I work in a school and sometimes the lecturer requests that internet access is blocked for a particular lesson. Our machine are arranged in OU's for each computer suire.

Is there any easy way to do this on the fly so that I can block access for one lesson and then restart for the next?

Not bothered of this requires a machine restart.

You have no ISA or proxy server? If the answer is no then I have an idea. I haven't tried this, my idea is to use DHCP classes to remove or put a fictitious gateway in particular class(OU). You can use a login script on the Client side in setting up the class ID and make sure they have no right to edit TCP/IP settings.

There's a little trick according to this link:

my best bet would be to use the ip range of the classroom (assuming you are set up that way and not just random stuff all over the school)

on the DHCP server (PC/router) filter via the ip range and deny the access

you could even just set up a router with a switch for the classrooms you wish to deny access

the linksys ones are very easy to set up this way
