Greetings
I need a way to block specific websites within IE. Pop ups mainly. I can not download any external program. I am attempting to keep all web based chat services out of the Windows system, cant have data entry people chatting. Their data entry is done straight into an internet site. Any suggestions?

Thank you

You could add entries for the sites you want to block in the user's "hosts" file...located I believe at \WINNT\system32\drivers\etc

There are samples of the syntax needed in the file, and for the sites you want blocked just redirect them to IP 127.0.0.1
which is the loopback address of the machine you're surfing from. That's the "poor man's" way to do it.

You can also restrict URLs in IE (local policies) in other ways...have a look at the FAQs in the "Browser Issues" forum...

good luck,

Jeff
