Hi,

Im trying to upgrade a computer from Win98 to XP but i keep getting the error that another operating system already installed.
I found out that it's because i have an OEM version of Win98. Is there another workaround this without doing a fresh install of XP? Im trying to avoid reformatting and reinstalling most of the programs...

also, is there a way to make the OEM version a Full version? I have a full version CD for 98, i tried to reinstall it, but it didnt seem to take the new cd key as i keep ending up with oem...

any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
thanks!

Hi,
Why not make a win '98 startup disk, and just format the HD?
Then install XP...

Just a thought
