How can I block the use of messengers such as Yahoo's, AOL's or Microsoft's? Is there a way to do that? Please help! Thanks.

Yes you can block services such as the messenger by having a Proxy server.

If you want to block them on your network, then you may want to look into a content filter problem. Although a proxy server will do the same you are piping all your internet connections through one box, if you should develop a problem with that box then your internet connection would go down. The software package that we use is call SurfControl, this software package sits on your network and monitors packets on your network, the only limitation to this product is that it needs to sit on the same network segment as your router with no switches between, your internet connection is not affected if the box goes down your ability to block those services is just down. If you want to check more about this product you can find them at... Of course if you don't mind the downtime or are a small network you should consider a proxy server.

*end users are just like computers, some you can work with...others just need a simple reBOOTing to fix their problems.*
