Probably an easy question, but….. I am using CR 8.0. I created 3 reports with the intention of placing all 3 as sub reports into a main report. Each report works as desired when ran independently, but when placed in the main report nothing shows up. In the preview window you can see where the sub report is, if you click over where the blank sub report should be it becomes outlined. If you double click inside the blank sub report a new tab is created and the information in the sub report becomes visible in this new tab, but still nothing shows up in the main report tab. So the information is in the sub report, but is not visible in the main report. Does anyone know what would cause this?

Each of the sub reports selects the data to display based upon a date range. I created a date range parameter in the main report and linked it to the sub reports date range parameters. When this is done none of the sub reports display any information, not even static text which is in each sub report. But if I remove the date range parameter from the main report and force the user to input the date range for each sub report the information shows up. The main report only contains the sub reports in addition to some static text.

Hope I explained this well enough. Thanks in advance for any help…

You need to select at least one record to be able to use the parameters in the main report. If there are no detail records, the sub reports will not show up.

Usually the easiest way to get around this, is to use one of the three subreports as the "main" report and add the other two subreports to it.

Or if you want a Main report, use the Main report parm to select only a single distinct date field selected by the parameter, and just suppress it. The response should be very fast, and it will allow you to NOT run or show the subreports if there isn't any data for that date.

You could then have a conditional band that displays a warning such as "No Records found for {MyDateParm}"

Might be better performance in instances when the date returns no data, and easier since you've already built the report this way.
