Blank Pages in Word, Excel, ....

Lately we have had a few users trying to open a regular WORD and/or EXCEL document and they get a blank page with the application open in the background. We've tried opening directly from an email links and from the local drive which does not seem to make a difference. Any ideas??? Thanks in advance for your help :)
