Blank Black Screen

Hello All!
I am getting a blank black screen on start up of my computer. I power the computer on and there r no beeps and then a blank black screen.

Compaq FS740
Pentium 4
Windows XP

The last operation on the computer was saving a typed document to a jump drive. Powered down computer. Returned to power up and nothing.

Is there any Bios screen loading or are you seeing or hearing any activity at all? If the computer is dead then there is not a lot of help we can offer, so the question is, are there any signs of life?

If not then it may be a case for the hardware forum or the repair shop.

Yes I do get the bios screen loading but no beeps

If you still have the USB jump drive in, remove it a all un need USB devices, unplug the power for 30 sec. plug it back in a try to boot. Some computers will try to boot from a jump drive if pluged in at boot and the bios is set to boot form USB or removeable drives.

Try Chkdsk /r from the Recovery Console.
