Which BIOS? What type of system (mfg, model, etc.)?

Older motherboards/BIOS'es don't support APM (i think i reacall the name).
Did it manage to power off by itself earlier?

control pannel -> power options -> apm -> enable advance power manegment support Mohamed Farid
