Need a bit more information on your system ie mobo cpu ect some older boards are limited as to hdd size but there are ways to work around these limitations.

Yes, you need to look on the motherboard, on the face of it or on the side of an isa or pci slot. One place or another you are gonna get some names and mainly letters and numbers. One of them will likely tell you who the mfgr is for your motherboard.
At that point you go to the motherboard mfgrs website and get yourself the latest bios upgrade for it, download the newest bios plus download the actual bios flash upgrade program plus the instructions on how to flash the bios. Since you know its award you have to look for the award bios flash program, and not the ami or phoenix as sometimes they may have both ami and award flash program and you want the award program.
If you cant find the mfgrs website from the letters and numbers you find, then post them here.

I'm a little confused on this one. You say you put an 80gig hd in and it won't boot from the hard drive? Is there anything on the hd? Is it formatted? If it is brand new then probably not which is why it won't boot to it.(Sorry if I mis-read that but thats how it looks to me)

Now if you meant it won't see the drive then that is something entirely different. Which Garebo is is on the right track to get your bios upgraded first and foremost.

Did you run the wd lifeguard app?

This is on the bios IC "Award PCI/PNP 586 s/n 126444688

Still need to know the make/model of your motherboard. As Garebo said, look high on low on your MB and you should find some combination of letters and numbers that will help others find the answers you seek.

S7-MVP3 appears to be the madel and is made by Vision Top Technology Ltd or maybe Xcess Technology... depending on which Google link I click. I've never heard of either.

Bios is somewhat generic. The bios you have can and is used on many different makes and models of motherboards. That being said we need the make/model info of your MOTHERBOARD, not your bios info.
