does someone know how to get rid of an error msg at bootup
very 1st screen goes through the ram check and HD check
and at the last 2 lines it says:

ERROR
COM B Configuration Changed

i have no idea how to get rid of that
i already flashed the bios with success, it shows the new version,
but everytime my com boots, it asks me to:

F1 to go to setup F2 to continue

it will not load win98 on its own unless i hit F2

any suggestions would be helpful...

You might go into bios and cripple com port b. Sounds like you might have a bios that is finding something it doesn't like on it. Like maybe a modem sitting at the same address. Ed Fair

Any advice I give is my best judgement based on my interpretation of the facts you supply.

Help increase my knowledge by providing some feedback, good or bad, on any advice I have given.

well that was the problem alright, but this bios is different then i'm used too, under (advance) i set com a and com b to auto and it worked, no eror msg and it goes strait to win 98se..

thankyou

but now i have a different problem lol, much more serious, hopefully you maybe able to help..

the com seems to be working perfectly, ecept in 1 area, i have
3 pci slots
2 isa slots
in one of the isa slots i have awe64 SB card
other slot i have us 56k sportster modem

after formatting the com recongnized everything but the modem

no problems at all in device manager

so in either add/remove progams or click on the modem icon in control panel to detect my modem i get the Blue Screen

a fatal exception OD: has occuued at 00AB:0000B52B

so i took out the modem and restarted the com to see if maybe the modem was bad and causing the problem..

i still get the same error when i goto either add/remove progams or click on the modem icon in control panel to detect my modem even with the modem out of the com..

Hopefully you can help me in this area as well :)

Thankyou again :)
