Hi all,

Sorry for typing this in the wroung thread..

i seem to have a problem with my bios. My windows 98 laptop doesn't seem to detect the hard disk. Can someone please guide me on how to proceed or any other solutions.

Thanks and regards,
Dinesh Paul

Reset the machine, hit "DEL" or whatever key your BIOS use to enter the "configuration mode".

Check the different pages/sections looking for a line like "IDE Primary Master" and set it to "AUTO"; or look for a line like "Detect Disk Type".

As last resort, try "Load Defaults", "Load Fail-Safe Defaults" or something like.

Other than "AUTO" do NOT set your disk type if you are not 500% sure what type it is. Defining a wrong disk can do no harm or can destroy your data. Disk types are not a thing to play with :).

HTH.
