have Tiny computer with a ms6334 motherboard but has ami bios, ami bios not available from msi, only award bios flash available, how can I go about changing ami bios to award bios, the award bios flash that is available from msi is for the same board, Tiny must have changed the bios themselves, need to upgrade the micro but the ami will only see up to 900 mhz I want to stick a 1 gig in the boards, have 5 machines all the same for local school, have spoke to Tiny/Time got no where, and no luck from msi tech, any idea"s welcome.

I think MSI boards often had ami & award bioses. I managed to kill one a few years ago trying exactly what you want (going from ami to award). There were even instructions on their website as to how to do this (at the time)! - which I thought I'd followed to the letter (bios upgrades always being a bit nerve wracking).
Question. What are you upgrading from (to 1Ghz)? And will the 1 Ghz run as 900mhz with the ami bios? As I suspect you won't notice any significant difference (between 900 and 1000 mhz) with school software (if you're running 2k or XP, memory much more important).
Otherwise, I suppose you could just try the Award flash procedure (it should warn you if its not happy - eg, there may be another procedure to do first when going from ami to award). I would NOT try this - unless someone here with successful experience of the procedure posts a solution.

hi wolluf, I gave it a go last night, didn"t work, kept saying I had to clear the rom bios first, anyway I remember there was an explaination on the msi site on how to do it, but it isnt there, also tried live bios upgrade, no luck.
The school machines all have 466 mhz chips in them, and as I have a few 1 gig chips I thought I would just stick them in as they are no use to me, and yes I take your meaning with the memory, I was going to put some more in just to help them along, as it is my intention to load up xp home, anyway thanks for the input, maybe as you say someone who has already done this will give me a few idea"s.

Ed - school I do some support for have a suite of 600mhz machines with 128MB RAM running XP Pro - and they run very well with the school's software (so if you can run 1Ghz chips at 900mhz with at least 128MB I think you should be ok).
btw - if you're going XP Home, presume not a domain in the school (as you know XP Home can't join a domain).

I also got an MSI mobo, but it's a 6309 v2, and I have successfully flashed the AMI BIOS to AWARD and back... had to do this because the Upgrade OS (Win2k) didn't like my AMI Bios... it's a OEM (Fujitsu/Siemens) full W2K Pro... did the flashing cuz I had problems installing WinXP Professional (Hardware Malfunction error)... but the W2K (original CD) versus the XP (copy) did just the same... and still haven't found the answer to my dilema (had to cripple the FSB speed down from 133 to 115 to get it to run) ergo 1GHZ down to 866mhz... where as Win98SE I could even overclock the bugger with no problems at all... go figure...
I had no problems what so ever doing this... I guess I got lucky...
