Right here goes.

I have a table where amongst other fields, there is a job number text box (RST number) and a Specification combo box (with a row source (spec/ref)).
When I enter an official order I give it a new "RST" number and choose the specification (from my pre-defined options in spec/ref).

I have a goods movement form and what I would like to happen is, when I go to move any of these goods...either in or out....as soon as I enter my "RST" number, in the next field the specification (from my original order form) is automatically entered.

Any ideas

Thanks

For the RST field use a combo box with a second column as the specification. You can even specify the second column width for the specification to 0 so it is not visible. On the afterupdate event of the combo box you could populate a text box based on the column property (first column is 0, second is 1, etc.) or you could simply set the contol source of a text box equal to the second column of the combobox <Me!cboName.column(1)>. You can always join the two tables together for reporting. But if the specification is dynamic you will likely want to store it.

Thanks lameid. I thought of using the RST field as a Combo, as I have done that before for my customer addresses.

I changed my movement form to incorporate the RST field as a combo box and I set the text box equal to the second column of my combo box. It all works fine now when I choose my RST number, but it is now not being stored in my goods movement table now ! Any ideas ?
