hi all...

i am setting up a second satellite connection for multihoming, and am in the process of configuring my BGP for both upstreams..

i'd like to set the timers on both circuits to 10 sec keepalive and 30 sec holdtime..

I feel this seems reasonable and sufficient, as a 30-second downtime of service is probably the best i can offer my clients...

what i wanted to know if whether the timers are good enough, or may be too low... i know 6 sec keepalive and 20 sec holdtime is possible, but doesn't leave enough room for any BGP routines.. i think..

all help appreciated..

Isn't 10sec keep alive the deffault?? Scratches head...could of swore it was.....need to look that up.

So far, I cannot see where this would be a problem. If anyone else does let the fellow know.

well, for Cisco's BGP, the default values are 60 seconds keepalive and 180 seconds holdtime...

generally, the holdtime is 3 times the keepalive time..
