Hi all,

In your experience, what's the best way to backup a W2K server running this version of NetBackup?

I backup all my servers (including the server running NetBackup) from a dedicated Backup Exec W2K server running B/E 8.6 for Data Centres. When it backs up the NetBackup volume it skips most of the files saying they are open, which I assume is because the service is stil running.

Is there any way around this? Do I have to stop the service? Can I just run a local backup using NT Backup? Does that deal with the open files better?

Many thanks!

Come on chaps, someone must be backing up a NetBackup server?

Any advice, greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Simply place the NetBackup volume into the exclude list.
The proper (supported) way to backup the netbackup volume is with the catalog backup provided. The philosophy is to install the netbackup software and then restore the catalog information from the special catalog backup.
