Hi,

I need to do a lot of printing for my home office, but I need to keep costs down to about 1 or 2 cents per page.

I've got a pretty decent HP900, but cartridges cost an arm and a leg. Even when I refill them, the results are ify: sometimes the refill works great, sometimes it clogs up and it's just a waste of ink.

If anybody out there is using or has used a good color printer with easy-to-refill cartridges, I'd sure love to hear some suggestions.

Many thanks,

Rougy

I haven't looked at the latest reviews, but Consumer Reports ( rates printers with printing cost as a large factor. The last time I looked the EPSON C60 was rated very well due to the low cost of ink. I don't think this model is still available though.

Print one and then let a large copy center make the other copies. The costs per page are well below your costs.

"...about 1 or 2 cents per page"

Not gonna happen! Even paying for black and white copies at a print shop is going to run 5 cents a page in bulk. Forget color, which cost a print shop running high volume about 22 cents/page just for supplies. That doesn't take into consideration the cost of leasing the equipment. If you are using an inkjet printer at home, figure on 40 to 50 cents a page for full color. You can bring the cost down with a laser jet, but no-one is going to give you 2 cents a page unless you are talking thousands upon thousnads of pages.

When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.

You can get a laser for the black and white and only print what you need in color on an inkjet printer.

Thanks for the replies.

FYI, I was getting copies for around 2 cents a page from my HP when I was refilling my own cartridges.
