Just wondering what others are doing in deciding whether to use dataenvironment vs. adodc and why. I am trying to figure out the best strategy in developing a vb database.

I don't like to use either. I find that binding controls with the ADODC or using the dataenvironment sets limits or rule to what and how you can do things. I prefer the flexibility of using staight ADO. It's a personal preference. It does require more coding, but once you learn a few basic steps I feel that it is well worth the effort.

I am starting to lean that way myself due to all the weird issues I face. Do you still bind controls and if so, what is your method?

I don't bind anything anymore. I use the ADO objects to bring the data to my apps and then manipulate (if necessary) and assign them where I need to. I store the data in the recordeset object or a variable or a control object, depending on what is needed.

Reverse the steps to save or update the data.
