hey guys,

I have an opportunity to quote a hotel that has 350 - 400 users. right now they have a Mitel. what would you guys recommend? we don't do the CM. I was wondering if the IP Office IP500v2 would handle this, or would the IP Office server edition be better? I think they want to look at an "all IP solution."

I have not put any IP Office in a hotel situation so I don't know how they compare or have the same features as a Mitel????

anyways, any help or thoughts would be great.

thanks!

With that many phones, I would do server edition, if going IP. You can use a 500v2 for any digital trunking as the uh, branch, or whatever it's called in server edition land.
Honestly, they work "okay" for hotel's (only done a few small ones), but most of the "hotel features" will be from the voicemail/attendants, in which case I would throw duvoice on there (I think that is what we used).

Mitel has some hotel features by default so be sure you want to do this and what the customer is expecting.
I would also go for a server edition.
This is too much for an IP500v2.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

You'll be happier in the long run if you take a pass on this opportunity. Mitel is the better solution for this customer.

Much depends on what the hotel is expecting. Guests really only use hotel phones to call the front desk or in-house restaurant. When was the last time you used a hotel phone for an outside call? However, staff often uses phone for "housekeeping status" - if your particular property isn't expecting this, then IPO can generally handle the rest. As others mentioned, Duvoice product is more geared for hotel market. In our part of the world, it's rare to see IP phones in guest rooms - simply because they don't add enough value for the occasional use.

I would agree with crumthwacket, Mitel is better geared up for the hotel market, they have been supporting it for years.

alternatively we do have one hotel that uses Tiger to manage everything which seems ok but I have no actual knowledge on tiger itself.

A Maintenance contract is essential, not a Luxury.
Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

I have done several hotels with Duvoice and it works, and does what it is supposed to do. They were on the larger side. not quite server edition, but hotels really don't grow. Duvoice works with all of the major PMS Systems out there. Just know what your client expects, and if you can deliver that with an IP Office then go for it.

NOT FCS.... never never never, not ever... skin yourself alive and roll around in rock salt before you consider IPO + a FCS WinVoice.

Trsut me on this.

Hospitality is the only time Mitel I would say leave the mitel alone. If its a mitel 200 just run away.
