Hi,
I'm working with VB6 now, but I'm thinking about moving to C++. I don't know much about it, but I'm thinking I can write better programs that are less dependent on what I call the Microsoft heirarchy (e.g. Microsoft "breaks" it's calendar code with every new version of Office, and the common calendar code is a piece of dirt).
Any suggestions for the best way to get started?
I know this is a Microsoft C++ forum, but I was hoping somebody out there would have experience with different compilers, etc.
