Remember also that 'unix' comes in many guises and subtle (and not-so-subtle!) differences exist between them. I'd recommend book-reading for a couple of days/weeks before getting into the the more esoteric stuff. Of course, the other way is to dive in there. If you know DOS, you will grasp the basics of navigation and such like fairly quickly. Good luck.
