my client has this wireless router and was working fine.

we installed a packaged application, and connections to the application on the server will not work in wireless mode.

we had to hard wire 2 workstations in order for the client application to work sucessfully.

anybody had any similar experiences, and if so how did you resolve(i.e. another brand of wireless router)

I had some similar issues when I upgraded my network with same piece of hardware (to wireless)...

the incoming / outgoing logs (accessible from the admin panel for the router will show you what ports its trying to use and you probably need to setup port forwarding... give me details on the hardware scenario youre dealing with and explain what machine the application is running on, etc.
