Beep in the ear on CMIV 4

Got an S8700 v2.0
Agent uses CallMaster IV with volume controlled P10
Call comes in, every 15 seconds there is an annoying beep in the background.
NOTE: We DO NOT use a powered M12 with batteries.

What the hell is this?

Help the fustrated please.

Might be you have service observing warning tones turned on, and a person is listening to the agents calls.

Do a 'change system-parameters features' and check page 8 or 9. (Don't remember which exactly) If service observe warning tones are turned on, then that's probably it.

Is it a wired or wireless headset? Wireless plantronics will beep when the batterie is low.

Some Callmasters have a interface for connecting a recorder to them. I don't know if that particular model does. If it is enabled then u can have it 'beep' to meet some laws that require it.

That is an option on the phone called Recorder Warning Tone. When enabled, it will beep every 15 seconds. I found these instructions to toggle it on or off. Please let me know if they are correct. I think this will work on Callmaster II, III, and IV

To enable or disable the warning tone on the recorder interface
1) While on-hook (the headset must be unplugged), press [ Select ].
* The light next to [ Select ] goes on.
2) Press [ Mute ].
* The CALLMASTER set is in option programming mode.
3) Dial the 2-digit code, "78" ("RT").
* The current setting (Enabled or Disabled) is shown on the
display.
4) Dial [ * ] to change the setting.
5) When the setting you prefer is shown on the display, press [ # ] to save it and exit programming mode.

ctr999 - Thanks for that, I never knew I about this.
It seems to have worked. I tested it and cannot hear the beeping now. The option was enabled and all the other phones had it disabled, Go figure.

Avaya couldn't figure it out...I wonder if I should tell them

Also, you can flip the two dip switches on the bottom of the CM V sets to OFF position to disable beep.

CM VI requires hard wire tricks to disable the beeps. In lower housing of the set, RIM beeps enabled when pins 1/3 used, beep deactivated when pins 2/3 used.
