Hi Guys,

I have been having an installation problem with BE9.1.

The install wizard seems to run fine but at the end it encounters an error & rolls back the installation. We get the error "Failed to install 3rd party products".

Here is the tail of the bkupinst.log

Looks like the failure is caused by MSDE - here is the MSDE_BKUPEXEC.log

Anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this issue??

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Rols: Search the msde_bkupexec for "return value 3" without quotes. You will find 2 of them. The error will be on the first intance you fine. Usually about two lines above the return value 3 line.
Is this a DC server?

Hey steveot,

I did a search for return value 3 but did not find it.

No this is not a Domain Controller (while we are at it its running Win2k sp4)

Cheers

Are you running Terminal Server in application server mode by any chance? Switch it to administrator mode and then try the installation again.

If I recall, you cannot run the MSDE installation on a terminal server in application server mode.

Hi guys,

Thought I should update you - It turns out that the something was wrong with the MSI installer on that particular box - My customer re-installed Windows & voi la.

All is working.

Thanks for all the input

Cheers
