I have a BCM 400 that does not power up. No lights on front panel, no power supply fan. I am in the process of replacing the power supply. I have experience with BCM 400 4.0 and have element manager on my laptop....however, if this box is 3.6 or 3.7 there is another interface to programming, right? Can somebody tell me how I can get this interface and is the default IP address 10.10.10.1? Thanks for any help.

depending on which lan your using it could also be 10.10.11.1 and you program it thru the unified manager interface...

You can still program the telephone functions through a system phone using F**SYSTEM, instead of F**CONFIG as on the Norstar systems. IP functions and the Call Pilot must be done through the internet browser.

F**System has been known to cause issues. If you ever upgrade to 4.0 you could see problems due to using this. Nortel highly discourages the use of it.

That's the same "old wives tale" like Set Relocation will cause corruption. Never had corruption with either. Let's say your at the opposite end of a building and you need to add a line to a DN. Your gonna walk all the way back to the server room and use the laptop, when I can just use the telset interface, easy choice. I guess I must just be lucky, but more likely, the concern is overblown.

I have seen issues caused by using F**SYSTEM. Obviously not using it once or twice. There was a tech that used to work for our company that was always on foot and never carried a laptop so he always programmed through the phone set. He had a location where the hard drive crashed after spending an extended period programming through the telset. When we worked with Nortel to get it fixed, they said that was the cause.

I certainly didn't mean doing ALL programming via telset, but as an adjunct, in a pinch. Never had a problem.

First, I want to thank all of you that have added to this thread. I received replacement power supply and was able to connect to what appears to be a perfectly fine working system.
(note, I obtained this platform, no modules, in a lot purchase of phone equipment) I now realize that I do not have a user password combination to get me into the system. Now what can I do? I would also like to upgrade to 4.0 but I have to have access first right? Thanks for any help you can suggest.

Yes u need access. U could connect it to a modem and pay Nortel to go thru the back door of your system or u can reimage the drive.

Well...I am one step closer...I got in! So, I guess for the time being, I am content! Now, I need to upgrade to 4.0...and any licensing. Most logical next step?
Thanks again,
PS I seem to have experienced some problems copying to multiple phones from telset. This was on a BCM 400 rel. 4.0. So, maybe there is something to it.

Doubtful, specify the issue. When you say you got in, is it via telset or GUI. Cuz, on 4.0 your ALLOWED to use telset.

To upgrade to 4.0, u'll need to purchase the 3.6/3.7 - 4.0 upgrade kit. Kit includes the keycode.
