I am looking for battery backup solution for a Option 61C. What are some of the options that I can use and do some extra research on.

At the moment there are batteries on the system, but some of the batteries seem to not be holding a charge anymore.

UNLESS YOU ARE EXPERIENCED IN DC PLANT I WOULD CHECK AROUND FOR A COMPANY THAT CAN CHANGE THE BATTERIES FOR YOU.
IT NOT SOMETHING TO MESS WITH

OLD ROLMEN WORKING ON NORTELS

yes the company there has their own electrical dept. We are looking for a new battery backup solution for them.

What kind of battery backups can we use??

Nortel have Standby Power system called "M Power", it consists of batteries that are housed in a standard IPE type cube on the 61. Depending on size of your 61 you could have one,two or three cubes full of batteries, which cable out to the rest of your columns on your 61, incase of a/c failure.

M Power aims to give 4 hours backup power usage.

Mpower sounds cool.. Never even heard of that

As for traditional battery - the yellow pages will reveal there are quite a few companies that do nothing but sell/service/istall battery systems. The market is mainly about the batteries inside UPS systems (backing up AC) But they know DC power backup better than anyone and will build any battery config needed.

rinky123, where can I find more information about the Nortel M power backup system??

I have my 61 on a standalone ONEAC Ups, works just as well as a traditional battery setup.

M Power is no longer supported by Nortel, they now use Candeo Power Systems by Emerson

Your maintainer should be able to assist with this

It's not getting any smarter out there. You have to come to terms with stupidity, and make it work for you.
