Batch files to write to text

I have made a batch file which lists directories where i have specified. i am wondering, as it lists directories in different locations on the hard drive, if i can use some sort of command to create a heading of some sort above the different directories listed.

You can put

echo This is a directory >> filename.txt
echo" >> filename.txt

to put a heading and blank line in your text file.
