I use a separate table and query for my forms comboboxes. Most are 3 fields queries, with an ID, SomeField, and Active(yes/no) and Show: ID, SomeField. Up to this point I have been sorting on SomeField. I have noticed that some databases duplicate the SomeField query column, Show: is unchecked, and Sort: on the duplicate column.

They both work, is there a reason or practice for this that a beginner needs to know about for the future?

Thank you.

For me, there is absolutely NO reason to duplicate the field.

Hope This Helps, PH.
