Basic QT/Projector Question

Here's a basic question before I go too far down a bad road:

To play QT movies from within a Flash projector file (PC), must the user have QT already installed on his/her machine, or is there a way to make it transparent to the user?

I realize that video can be embedded in Flash, but it makes gigantic files and I'm leery of the Flash codec.
