badmail folder

I was just wondering what exactly goes into this directory. We've been hit with the Netsky virus and my virus checker always shows the infected files to go into this folder. We have a bunch of infected emails. I was just wondering what the repercussions would be if I deleted all files in this folder.

The badmail folder is where any email is sent that doesn't match up with a mailbox on your server. You can absolutely delete everything in the badmail folder, and should do so periodically.

You can review the contents if you like to see if someone just misspelled a recipient, but if there are a ton of items in the folder, that gets tedious. I usually empty it every morning.

Awesome. Thank you. I had like 3000 files in it this morning. I'll make sure I do a periodic cleaning of it as well. I appreciate your help. This is an awesome resource for a rookie Network Admin like myself.
