Hello all, what's the best way to verify if you have a bad WIC? Thanks in advance.

A bad nic will usually cause poor PC performance or adversley affect the network. In either case removing from the network or removing the nic card or disabling an onboard port in the device manager would be a good place to start. Restart then check for improvements. In either case it is not worth spending a huge amount on as you can get a new PCI nic for $10.00. One other thing to consider is that there may be a source of EMI interfence somewhere in the cable run.

Joamon, thanks for your reply, but I'm asking about determining if I have a bad WIC interface card in one of my routers. Not a NIC! I know when I network interface card goes bad in a PC.

Although I've never done it on WIC, I would imagine that you could use a loopback plug and run some sort of loopback test on the router. You may also want to run a loopback test from the remote equipment to your WIC.

Sorry...read it as WIC....old age you know....what model of WIC is it?

Meant that I read it as WIC and I associated with NIC.....

I had a run in with those before. I went through 3 WIC's until I got one that would work. The problem I had was every WIC would work fine in slot 0 of a 2811 router but for some strange reason it would not function with a second one installed. What kind of issues are you having with yours? What leads you to suspect it is bad?
