Bad Pool Header

On my Sony XP SP2 laptop which has been running fine for some time and on which I have not installed any hardware or software of late, I am getting this blue screen of death error every 30 mins.
This is what it says,

Bad Pool Header
STOP: 0X00000019(0X00000020,0X89520200,0X89520220,0X1A040001)

I did some preliminary search and found similar errors linked to netgear wireless cards.
I also did a system restore to point 1 month earlier in time, started in safe mode, but still I have no luck.

Please advise.

See if there are any clues in this lot, I did see mention of Norton products being a problem?

After browsing through various sources, I uninstalled SP2 to rectify the problem. It did rectify the problem, but strangely, IE doesnt seem to work now. I can ping the sites, but cant open them in IE. I tried firefox as well, but with the same result.
Please advise asap.

But the problem seemed to be with Winsock. I used the following to fix the problem.

And it works now.
