Backup Exec 8.x running on NT4 Server:SP6a
Veritas VXA Exabyte Backup Drive
VXA Tapes: 80Gb(Native) 160Gb(Compressed)
Exchange 5.5
PROBLEM: Every morning I show up to find my backup saying "failed" but I've never fhad a problem restoring anything. Errors were usually corrupt emails causing the Failure notification.

Last Week my Nt4 Server crashed, after a good parallel install to backup my current information store I clean installed NT4 and Exchange 5.5. Server running better than ever.. Now however when I arrive each morning my backup has failed, I can't inventory my tape b/c I get "Bad Media" Error, when I tried to just restore a single mailbox I Get "Media Unrecognized Format." I can inventory any other tape, just not the one that has just finished as backup. So, I reboot my server, and now the tape inventories and I can restore anything.
WHY? does backup exec need to have me reboot my server to inventory and read my most recent tape. This happens every day..
IDEAS?

Oh.. one more thing... Wasn't sure if it mattered but my entire backup size is 77GB, which is why I included the tape capacity. I don't want to do a compressed backup but If my approaching of the native capacity is a problem I'm not aware of I will try something new.
