Hello, the time change last weekend screwed up 3 of my PCs I had running. My XPsp2 machine had it DST update automaticly. I found DST fixes for my 2K Pro sp4 and 98se machines on the internet and applied them. I was working on my XP machine and the time changed fine, ALTHOUGH, I noticed the time window still said Eastern Daylight Time. I wondered why it did not change to say Eastern Standard Time. I fired up my 2K and 98se machines to check for proper time change and they too changed okay. The real PROBLEM [mad] happend when 2:00am came around again. All 3 PCs backed up 1 more hour!! This time, my XP machine did say Eastern Standard Time. All the PCs were running for the hour after the first time change. I had another 98se PC running after the time change but I shut it down before 2:00am-I had not checked it yet for the same issue.

Has this problem happen to anyone else? I wanted to send MS an email to report this problem but can't find the proper channel to do so. I manually added the hour back to the 3 PCs. I noticed in another thread that in the first new time change - one had corrected itself. It could have been that machine was set to syncronize with a time server on the internet.

Please comment and I hope I was not alone. Anyone awake to witness the time change on your PC? Thank you.

In a non server environment with several real and virtual machines of various operating systems I too noticed minor problems with daylight saving changes. Nothing that couldn't be easily fixed manually.

What I have noticed recently is the settings for Time Servers, particular the times.windows.com, but also one or two of the other listed servers, giving an error message when manually running the Internet time update. To fix that problem, I just scroll through the drop down list until I find one time server that works, usually something like time-b.nist.gov, wherever that is.

Whether changing time servers at about the period of daylight saving could cause clocks to go back or forward (twice and therefor be out 1 hour) I don't know.

There has also been several Windows Updates in the past year concerning daylight saving, perhaps they are a problem cause too, but whatever the problem, manually correcting the time should keep the machines happy for the next 6 months or so.

Just an FYI, you may want to take a look at using the following site for ntp:
