BAD BDR files

This folder "C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\Mailroot\vsi 1\BadMail" is growing rather large. So my question is what are these files *.bad and *.bdr and can I delete them.

Those are messages that couldn't be delivered, and an NDR could not be sent. You can typically clear them out if you're content that they are truly badmail. Try opening some in notepad.
