Bad Analog Lines

Hello all,

I have a couple of analog lines which all of a sudden are not accepting dialed digits. When you plug in a set and pickup the handset you hear dialtone, but when you try to dial, the port ignores it.

I know it's not the phone since one of the ports works....

Help!

Does the extension have a port address? Check to see in CH ST XXXX that it has a port address. Wisdom is Knowledge

Yes it does. This has worked in the past, but for some reason it doesn't now....

You're not breaking dial tone. Are both devices on the same circuit pack?

Could be a problem with the device you're dialing from (probably not), or with the port on the circuit pack. Try a different port or a port on a different pack and see what happens.

You may want to check to make sure all of the wiring is good too. I have seen that happen when you have a wire loose somewhere.

If you are using an older set, it could be that you have tip and ring reversed. Are you hearing the tones when you try to dial?

Also verify the station type is 2500 (TT) and not 500 (Rotary)
