Hi everyone,
I am trying to solve a "user problem" that effects my backups. The backup is not completeing due to "open files" from a database that is left open. This file is located across the state and I can't get the user to log off. Is their a way to force users to log off? How are others dealing with this problem?

Thanks everyone for their help.

Have you tried using Arcserve's open file manager? It works well, I use it on all my file servers.

Or, you could put a cute little script in your user's schedule to reboot their computer every night. :)

Good luck!
Debi

It depends on what you want.
Do you want the log to report complete?
Do you want the database backed up?

If the first you can use a filter to exclude these files.
If the second you can set it time limit on the user, so the server will automatically log them off.
