Hello,
We have made many changes to our environment and now my backups are crashing, but not throwing any errors. We have a new database server, win 2003, IE7, connected to 2 MD1000 vaults. I can backup small files from any server I need to. The problem arises when it tries to backup big files- meaning a directory with 10gb of files, and a backup file that is about 74gb. The job will process about 500mb then put itself on hold and show as crashed. Arcserve version is 9 with the following patches applied: SP2, QO76529,QO82856, QO86020. I'm not thinking it is any of the patches, since I have them running without issue in other areas, but I guess you never know.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

I came across a tek-tip thread that helped me resolve my issue. First I am trying to run arcserve9 on win2003 sp2- which is apparently not supported. So I may have more issues later. For the time being the following has fixed my problem:

Question: The last result of the backup job is 'crashed' When checking the dbeptxx.logs generated in the \Log folder, the cause of the exception is - asrbckup.dll Answer:
The dbeptxx.log files (where xx is an incrementing number) can be found in C:\Program Files\CA\BrightStor ARCserve Backup\Log
To prevent this problem :
Stop all ARCserve services and rename the file asrbckup.dll in the folder - C:\Program Files\CA\BrightStor ARCserve Backup to asrbckup.old
Start all the services and run a backup and it should work fine.
